Ascension Dance · Chatham, Ontario
On stage.
On screen.
Part of the story.
Our Holiday Film, Spring Recital and Summer Showcase give dancers ways to share their learning, costumes and creativity with an audience.
Under the lights
Stage · Rehearse, perform, celebrate.
The Spring Recital brings dancers together for a live performance, usually in late May or early June depending on venue availability. The Summer Showcase gives the summer programme its own performance moment. Costumes, choreography and rehearsals help dancers prepare to share what they have learned.
Behind the camera
Screen · Make a story together.
Our annual Holiday Showcase is an original feature-length film. We write, stage, shoot, edit and produce it with all our dancers featured. The live site describes a big-screen premiere at Chatham Capitol in December.
A record of the learning.
We send choreography home on video, make summer camp films, and record recital pieces in class with costumes. Families can keep a strong example of their dancer’s progress, including when a live stage feels overwhelming.
The creative work around it.
Costumes, sets and seasonal decorations are part of studio life. Halloween, Christmas and other environments can remain for weeks, giving dancers more time to enjoy them.
