At four, five and six, dancers do not need to know which style will eventually become their favourite.
One week ballet may capture their imagination. The next week they may want to move to hip-hop, make rhythms with tap shoes or learn a jazz routine.
Ascension’s recreational classes give young dancers room to explore while developing the foundations they will use as they grow.
Depending on the class, dancers may explore ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap and other movement styles.
Teachers gradually build:
Classes remain age-appropriate, encouraging and active.
Most Ages 4–6 classes are 45 minutes.
45-minute class: $59.95/month
Occasional 30-minute specialty classes may also be offered.

Combination classes are one of the ways Ascension helps younger dancers explore dance without requiring families to choose a specialization too soon.
A class may combine ballet, jazz and hip-hop, or another group of complementary styles.
As dancers grow older, they have more opportunities to take classes focused on individual styles.
Comfortable clothing that allows free movement is the priority.
Dancers may wear a bodysuit and tights or flexible athletic clothing. Footwear depends on the dance styles taught in the class.
Families receive specific information after registration.
Dance shoes, tights and other supplies are available locally through Act One, right next door at 530 Victoria Ave, Suite G.
September–December classes work toward Ascension’s Holiday Film.
January–May classes work toward the live Spring Recital.
Each semester is registered separately.
New dancers are welcome to join an existing class when space is available.
As a performance approaches, contact the studio so we can determine whether there is enough time for a new dancer to learn the choreography comfortably.
