Embrace Flexibility: The Benefits of Dance Drop-In Classes Greg July 7, 2023 Tips and Tricks
Our recreational dancers receive thoughtful instruction, develop technique, learn challenging choreography, perform, make friends and become an important part of the studio community.
For most people, dance is one meaningful part of a full life. We think that is worth celebrating.
Ascension’s recreational program gives children, teens and adults opportunities to learn different dance styles, build skills over time and participate in memorable performances while remaining part of a welcoming creative community with natural connections to theatre, film and the performing arts.
A playful 30-minute introduction to dance, music and movement.
Combination classes encourage exploration while building strong movement and dance foundations.
Growing dancers work with stronger technique, longer choreography and more distinct style choices.
Older dancers continue developing technique, artistry and performance skills while exploring the styles and creative interests that matter to them.

Fall dancers spend the semester learning skills and choreography, then participate in filming for Ascension’s annual Holiday Film. The finished feature-length movie is shared as a special December experience for dancers, family and friends.
Our second semester continues skill development while dancers prepare for a live stage performance in May.
Each semester is a separate commitment.
Registration remains open while space is available, and dancers can often join after a semester has begun.
Recreational does not describe how much a dancer matters.
At Ascension, it describes a program built around weekly classes, skill development, creativity, performance and community.
Ascension recreational dancers:
Some dancers come once a week. Others take several classes. Both belong here.
